If you compare the D3100 to the 1100D on several websites, including this one, the D3100 shows better results. I actually bought the 1100D a couple of days ago, so I hope the answer is no. I say canon is way better at iso3200. Nikon at iso3200 has "banding issue". The banding is even visible at iso1600.
